I've been to dive bars and Carson's is almost in that category.  Certainly a neighborhood bar with devoted regulars but is a fail at dive bar status.

I was told by a 70 year old shuttle bus driver from Anhauser Busch to come here, he said to sit at the bar second or third seat from the brass rail. I was puzzled.  Came in, felt lucky the magical seat was available.  Quickly learned why.  The daytime bartender is attractive and is blessed with recreational sized breasts, she wears low cut blouses and seems to touch and rub them frequently.  The sink that she washes the glasses is between the second and third seat.  She seems to know which regulars need hugs and back rubs.  As a tourist I was completely ignored.  The entertainment factor of watching 60 and 70 somethings flirt with her is quite priceless.

The distraction of the bartender aside the place is quite decent.  Honest drinks at neighborhood bar pricing.

We were continually harassed by some guy and after several requests for him to stop he proceeded to unbutton his shirt and grope my friend. We then had enough and stood up for ourselves. The waitress proceeded to yell at my friend for defending herself and kicked us out. As a female patron if you want to feel safe in STL I highly suggest elsewhere for karaoke. Apparently this place is not a believer of women.

WORST DJ EVER - WORST SERVICE EVER
Will not be returning. Let me give you the deets then a little story... they stop serving food at 9pm on a Saturday but still won't let you bring in a slice from next door. So they aren't making food and you have to leave to eat. So instead of having 2-3 drinks, we had 2 drinks at Epic and only one at Carson's. Just stupid management. They missed out on at least $60. Also total crap selection of drinks. Nothing top shelf at all.

Now, went in for karaoke for a friends birthday. All she wanted to do was sing. When we got there it was probably a dozen people. 2 hours later she still had not been called. We watched others sing 3 or 4 times while we sat. We watched new people get up to sing that weren't even there when we got there.

The worst part was there were now 50 people in there waiting to sing and what does the DJ do? He gets up and sings. He's getting paid to let us sing. No one came there to here you sing asshat. Also he took breaks and played music no one wanted to hear.

I've heard from several people that he's the worst DJ ever but never imagined it could be that bad. She never got to sing on her birthday. Thanks worst DJ ever. And thanks Carson's for being the worst bar in STL.

A decent dive bar in Soulard. However the karaoke DJ on the weekends ruins the fun. I usually end my night out at Carson's. I know now from experience that I will not get a chance to sing unless I pay more in "tips" for the dj than others.  I was told last time if I wanted to sing at all that night it would be $10.  Definitely would not recommend going to karaoke at Carson's if you want to sing.
